Waves Of Salt
Waves of Salt - Henry ate

This song is being played with the help of a capodaster at the first fret. So actually you play the whole
in C# instead of C, but the song is transcribed as if you are playing in normal tuning. The song is played
a neat fingerpicking style. The high E is never played. Instead, the C (played at the B-string) is played continually throughout the whole song.
The chords might look a bit scary, but just take a normal C chord. C/B means that same chords, but only
a B in the bass. Just lower the bass note of the normal C one fret lower and there you have the C/B. All
chords follow that same principle. Just as you make sure that you continuously play the C note on the second string, first fret.

When you look at the chords, you can see a bassline walking from C - B - F - G and back to C. This
bass? is played solely on the fifth (A) and sixth (E) string.

Here you didn?t let go

So catch your breath in a jar of steel
To keep till your day of passing
In a box underneath your soul kept safe
With only your g-d watching

So He Says
So he says - Henry Ate

This is another wonderful slow song from Henry Ate?s/Karma?s debut album ?Slap in the face?. The whole
is played in a nice, smooth fingerpicking style, all in style with the smooth setting of the song. In
with a wonderful style of intertwingeld (is that an Englsh word?) voices of Karma & Julian, it combines to a very neat song.
Once you mastered the playing, you should invite a friend in order to master and sing both voicings!
If you are interested into more of these close harmony styles, I?d suggest the works of Crosby, Stills & Nash.

The Em chord is played like this (open strings!):	sixth - second - first
So you actually don?t have to use your left hand with this chord!

The Em/D is played almost like the Em: fourth - second - first.

The D/B is played like this:	first string: second fret
				second string:	third fret
				third string:	open
				fifth string:	second fret

[Intro]

Em Cadd9
Em Em/D	Cadd9

Em Cadd9
Loses his mind to thought

(Cadd9) Em
Picking up pieces pictures that stare lie scattered in his head

		        Em/D Cadd9
Touches his brow and liberty strikes him dead

(Cadd9)
Last weeks papers reads just like yesterdays news

Em Em/D
Sits at the table, shoots from the hip

Cadd9 Em
Stares at the ceiling losing his grip but now ?

Em Em/D
Caught in lost state, fighting for air

Cadd9
He understands, so he says

Em
Silence provokes him, noise is his safety

Cadd9
He hides from the corner and cries

Em Em/D
Resorts to his reading, tapping his desk

Cadd9
Shoots from the hip and smiles

Em Em/D
Caught in a lost state, fighting for air

Cadd9
He understands, so he says

Em	Em/D	Cadd9
 	      so he says

[Chorus]

	     G5
He?s on the up and up

D/B Cadd9
Falling fast ?cause she?s not coming back

G5 D/B Cadd9
He understood and waves goodbye

G5 D/B Cadd9
Reality just spat on his desires

G5 D/B
He understands

        Cadd9
He?s losing his mind again

Pity the day to sleep
Closes his eyes, wishes his death, the angels smile
He?s not saying to much these days
Relies on his eyes to convey the story of his mind

Sits on the table, drunk of his tears
Thinking about the time he gave into his fears but now ?
Caught in a lost lane fighting for air
He understands, so he says
Losing his mind again

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
	   Am D
It?s all too real now

	G	D/F#

This song has some nice chords which make intensively use of unfretted strings. In this way the strings do
a really nice voicings as is the case with ?open? chords. These are the ?unusual? chords that are used in
song. The lines represent the strings of your guitar with the high E on top and the low E on the bottom.

Dots point out to where strings are to be fretted. Some dots appear at the most left vertical bar, which
that it is played as an open string.
So, the Esus chord below says that 3 strings are played ?open? and that the fretted notes resemble an A,
B.

          Esus Bsus Amaj7sus

	Asus

You?ll have to finger out your own fingering positions and then you?ll hear what a nice, rich chords these
I?m not sure whether these chords are exactly the same as Karma?s, but I thought that these came close.
And once you mastered these chords and the song, pay particularly attention to the way these chords are
the rythym guitar.

For out of the darkness comes light

No reason to hide
	       Bsus
Your envy progressing
        Asus [hold]
The day I met Pandora?s child

The earth turned backwards, I didn?t care
The sun came out of the night to stare
For out of this darkness comes light

A voice of darkness warned beware into my arms
Remaining there
for if you love me don?t let go

And I?ll stop pretending
No reason to hide
Your envy progressing
The day I kissed Pandora?s child

These walls change color. Shapes set aside
Put away the black box, Pandora?s child.
For into the womb of a flower pours rain.
Pandora?s child so named remain

And I?ll stop pretending
No reason to hide
Your darkness ending
For I?m in love with Pandora?s child

This song is played with a capo at the third fret. The chords are written as if they are played without
capo. Note that in the chorus G and the D notes are continuously played on the high E and B strings, except
the Am chord.
This should result in several sustained chords, but it?s easier to let your pink and ring finger rest on
notes while playing the chords. Listen carefully to the chorus to get an idea of what I?m talking about.
The D/F# is the only ?strange? chord and is actually nothing else but a Dchord with a F# in the bass. You
play this note by using your thumb or with your index (but this requires a totally new fingering of the
D-chord).

And all the things you?ve taken were never meant to be gone
You?d have given a gift from above
So freely having given a gift from above

And would it be all of your dreams
So better suited to someone like me
I?d watch you achieve
Wouldn?t that make me unhappy on the level thinking back
